FORTRESS

Mit dem Kunstprojekt „Flooding Through Decades“ setzte sich eine Gruppe von Künstler:innen (AT/HR) in ortsspezifischen Arbeiten mit der Geschichte und Gegenwart Pulas auseinander – historischer k. u. k.-Marinestützpunkt, später Werft- und Industriestandort, heute v. a. Tourismusziel.

With the art project „Flooding Through Decades“, a group of artists (AT/HR) engaged in site-specific works exploring the history and present of Pula – once a historic Austro-Hungarian naval base, later a shipyard and industrial site and today primarily a tourist destination. In the thermofrottages of the robust defensive architecture of Fort Bourguignon and the textile structures of a soldier’s uniform from Fort Casoni Vecchi, buildings and bodies, collective history and individual experience enter into a critical dialogue. Friction, pressure and heat make the material’s underlying structures newly perceptible as a relief of time.
